Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination in Clinical Neurophysiology

Dr Patel is a consultant nephrologist based in Manchester , Postgraduate Associate Dean at Health Education England and Deputy Director for Conduct and Progress at the University of Liverpool. She completed an MSc in Medical Education in 2014 and was awarded distinction for work looking at the value of Workplace Based Assessments in Predicting Doctors in Difficulty. She is currently leading on national work on Differential Attainment and Assessment and ic CLinical Lead for Quality Management for the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board

Bullying and discrimination are known to be issues in all branches of medicine, but are more commonly reported in some specialties than others. In this session we will start by reviewing the latest data for Clinical Neurophysiology. The majority of the session will focus on what approaches we can take as a specialty to reduce bullying, harassment and discrimination – the target being to eliminate them entirely
