Dr Purves is a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist at Kings College Hospital, and has been Clinical Lead there since 2013.  Apart from providing a general EMG service he has an interest in the way that chronic pain syndromes influence neurological presentations and is also involved with work on neurophysiological changes in FND.

This talk will look at the development of our familiar myotome charts and the methods used to gain the information contained in them.  I will consider the limitations in them and will also offer a surgical perspective on how the information we provide to our referrers is used in practice.
