Following pressure from the GMC the Clinical Neurophysiology SAC was required to create a formative knowledge-based assessment for ST4, ST5 and ST6 trainees. We describe the process of writing the quetions for a pilot assessment and how the trainees were assessed.
We have performed a pilot study involving trainees and consultants. We present the broad results of the data and the change in outcome with stage of training. We have evaluated the utility of the pilot and identified lessons learnt and areas for consideration in future assessments.
