Association of Trainees in Clinical Neurophysiology (ATCN)
The Association of Trainees in Clinical Neurophysiology (ATCN) is the body which represents UK trainees in clinical neurophysiology to the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN).
Membership of the ATCN is open and free to all with a UK National Training Number in Clinical Neurophysiology. As there are relatively few trainees there are not speciality specific regional Calman days. Instead, we meet at twice yearly national training days the day before the BSCN scientific meeting as well as at other BSCN organised teaching days, including every third year a weeklong course in Oxford. The training days aim to cover the curriculum for the specialty and they take the form of talks and demonstrations. Additionally these meetings and the social events that usually follow them provide an opportunity to meet and share expertise with trainees and others working in the specialty. The ATCN also facilitates informal speciality specific teaching, peer advice from other trainees via a 'buddy scheme' as well as mentoring by consultants from other departments.
